Gifts to Lynn R. Lowrey Arboretum contribute to...
Your support of Rice’s Lynn R. Lowrey Arboretum (LRLA) will fund restoration efforts at the Harris Gully Natural Area. The LRLA is returning this detention basin to its historic native landscape that it once was, increasing biodiversity through the purchase of native plants, shrubs and trees. These species are resilient to Houston’s climate and provide vital food and shelter for both native and migratory wildlife. Your gift will bolster the university’s carbon sequestration goals while providing a beautiful space for the health and wellness of our community.
Dedicated in 1999, the Lynn R. Lowrey Arboretum encompasses the entire 300-acre Rice University campus. It features 4,600 trees across 125 species, highlighting those native and naturalized to Texas and northeast Mexico. The LRLA serves as a living laboratory, promoting environmental literacy through the engagement of students, faculty and staff while protecting and supporting native ecosystems.
